In Memory Of Hurricane Katrina Victims Hello everyone, I'm a southerngirl from South Mississippi and I'd like to take the time to write this and ask all of you to remember the victims who lost their lives from Hurricane Katrina. On August 29th, 2005, Hurricane Katrina hit the southern coast of the United States with devastating effect. She made landfall just before dawn and hit New Orleans around 6.10 a.m. with furious winds, high seas and hours of nonstop destruction. My family and I are from Gulfport Mississippi, 65 miles or so from this New Orleans and the devastation up and down the coastline was just UNREAL. All the historical homes gone, casinos gone, businesses gone, and last but not least, several lifes gone. Several of my friends lived in fema trailers, I had friends who lost their homes and could not even salvage a picture. To this day when you drive up and down the coast you can still see the after math from the storm. If you have ever been in a hurricane you know first hand what Mother Nature can do. Let us not forget those who were taken from us in this deadly storm and remember them along with their families. Southerngirls
